NodeText Sender provides the facility for customers to send an email to a specified address (in the format 04xxxxxxxx@txt.on.net), where it is converted to a text message and sent to the destination mobile phone.
Once you've signed up to the service, any 'approved sender' can simply create an email message and send it to 04xxxxxxxx@txt.on.net (in either the To, CC or BCC fields of the email message). The control information - optional password and aliased source number - is entered into the Subject field of the email; and the required content for the text message is entered into the Body of the email message. The maximum text message is 160 characters in length; any messages longer than 160 characters will be truncated to 160 characters and sent.
A more detailed explanation is provided here : NodeText Sender User Guide
The text message is obtained from the first 160 characters from the Body of the email message.
Note that the email message should be in 'plain text' format, rather than HTML, to ensure that a clear text message is received. Any content after a standard email signature (signified by '--') will be stripped, white space will be minimised, and certain special characters cannot be sent via SMS. We automatically truncate any message to 160 characters - this is to avoid excessive charging if a very long email message has been accidentally sent.
This feature means that the received text message will appear to come from your own mobile phone service (rather than an SMS message centre). This means the recipient can simply press Reply on their phone and start typing, to send a response directly back to your mobile phone. You can pre-define up to 10 'source' mobile phone numbers to take advantage of this feature.
As an option, you may pre-specify up to 10 mobile phone numbers that text messages can be sent to. If this is not specified, then text messages can be sent to any Australian mobile phone number.
A flexible range of authentication mechanisms is available for NodeText Sender services. Depending on your requirements, the service can be restricted to messages sent from specific email accounts only; and/or any email account at specific domain names. Additional security can be applied by defining specific email server IP addresses; and/or employing a password for each message.
Customers are charged for establishment of the service ($50 once-off) and then billed monthly, according to the number of SMS messages sent and their selected usage plan:
| Plan Name | Monthly Charge | Included messages per month | Cost per additional message |
| TXT-10 | $10 | 80 | $0.20 |
| TXT-25 | $25 | 200 | $0.19 |
| TXT-50 | $50 | 400 | $0.18 |
| TXT-100 | $100 | 800 | $0.17 |
| TXT-250 | $250 | 2000 | $0.16 |
| TXT-500 | $500 | 4000 | $0.15 |
Changing the authentication parameters, alias numbers or pre-approved destination numbers after the initial order involves a once-off $25 configuration charge.
