Internode's NodeLine service is a traditional home telephone service. It's delivered over the copper access network - you simply plug a telephone into it, and make calls. It's not voice-over-IP, and it's not a mobile : it's a traditional analogue telephone service.
Most Internode customers (unless they're on a naked service) are already renting a similar service from another telecommunications provider. Most of our ADSL products - including Extreme ADSL2+, as well as ADSL Standard, Plus and TwoPlus - are delivered over the same copper pair.
Now, you can transfer your phone service across to Internode - and enjoy the great call rates and convenience of one bill for your home broadband and telephone line.
It's very likely that you can - NodeLine is delivered via the Telstra Fixed Line network, which has 'universal' availability across Australia.
It's a great network to leverage for coverage of course - but don't worry, that doesn't mean you'll get a bill from Telstra!
You can obtain NodeLine via a simple online ordering process - either by converting an existing home phone service, or ordering a new service connection. Please read through the detailed information about these options on our Transfer page.
If you already have a home phone service, it costs $39 to transfer it to NodeLine. If you don't, then a new NodeLine service can be established - with setup charges starting from $59, depending on your specific circumstances. This is covered in more detail on the Transfer page.
There is then a monthly rental charge of $29.95. Call charges are documented on the Call Rates page. We've aimed to make the largest part of a typical home phone bill - the calls to mobiles and long distance - as cost-effective as possible!
NodeLine offers a range of value-added services to improve the usefulness of your phone service. The costs associated with these services are also documented on the Call Rates page.
Important points you need to know about NodeLine:
If you don't already have an Internode username and password, we'll set one up for you during the signup process. Naturally, you won't have to put a username and password into your phone! Instead, it's for access to the NodeLine Toolbox that is currently under development - where you'll be able to enable additional phone features online, download your call records, and other cool stuff.
Many features are turned on by default, and you simply pay a small charge if you use them. Others have a monthly charge - these are selected at online signup, and can be changed via a support request until the NodeLine Toolbox becomes available.
The details of each feature - including how to use it and what it costs - are listed below:
Call Return
Retrieve the number of your last unanswered call (as long as the caller didn't block their number), and then return the call straight away.
It costs 35 cents per use, plus the applicable call charge if you return the call.
CLI Sending
This is where you present your number to the called party. It is selected during online signup, and doesn't cost anything
Unlisted numbers always have CLI Sending set to off.
Call Back
Have your call completed when the phone number you are calling becomes free. The busy destination will be monitored for 45 minutes, and up to five Call Backs can be arranged at any one time.
It costs 35 cents per use, plus the applicable call charge when the call is connected.
Three Way Chat
Add another person to your call and have a 3-Way Chat. While you are in a 3-Way Chat your Call Waiting will not work; however (if set) your Call Forward Immediate or Busy will still work.
It costs 55 cents per use, plus the applicable call charge to connect the third party.
Call Waiting
No need to miss an important call just because you’re on the phone. The Call Waiting tone (two beeps every five seconds) lets you know that there’s a call waiting to be answered.
There's no charge for Call Waiting.
Call Forward Immediate
Forward all incoming calls to another number.
You simply pay for the forwarded leg of the call.
Call Forward Busy
Forward all incoming calls to another number if your phone is busy.
You simply pay for the forwarded leg of the call.
Call Forward No Answer
Forward all incoming calls to another number if your phone is not answered. The default time before forwarding is 20 seconds (around 7 rings), but you can set it to anywhere between 5 and 60 seconds.
You simply pay for the forwarded leg of the call.
VoiceMail
It's a virtual answering machine! This feature is $6 per month, and there are no deposit or retrieval charges.
When you have messages, you should hear 'stutter tone' instead of ringtone. Some phone handsets have a message wait indicator lamp. Messages are stored for 14 days then deleted, even if you haven't listened to them. If you have listened to them, they can be saved for 7 days. A maximum limit of 60 messages of up to 5 minutes each applies.
Calling Number Display (CLI Presentation)
Identify who is calling you by displaying the caller’s telephone number (unless the number is blocked).
You will require a suitable telephone handset with a display, of course, and please note that Calling Number Display is a $6 per month option!
