For the Voice Mail feature of NodePhone 2 to work properly your Voice over IP hardware must support the RFC2833 DTMF standard. If your ATA does not support RFC2833 you may not be able to navigate the Voice Mail menu system.

The Open Networks 812L and Sipura SPA-3000 already support RFC2833 DTMF. The Billion 6404 and 7404 range require you to enable this feature.

Enabling DTMF on the Billion 7404 and 6404.

Billion routers must have version 5.52f or later firmware installed for RFC2833 DTMF to be available. Customers running firmware prior to 5.52 will need to upgrade their firmware. DTMF is only supported by the 6404 and 7404 series hardware, the 7402 series does not support RFC2833 DTMF.

To set DTMF on the 6404/7404 series follow these steps:

1. Login to the Billion and browse to Configuration ---> VoIP ---> Phone Port.
2. For Phone Port 1, click Edit.
3. Under Codec Preference change the DTMF Method to RFC 2833.
4. Click on Apply.
5. Go back to the phone port page.
6. For Phone Port 2, click Edit.
7. Under Codec Preference change the DTMF Method to RFC 2833.
8. Click on Apply.
9. Click on Save Config.

The configuration files provided on the Internode website already contain the above settings as standard. Customers can upload the new configuration file to their Billion after upgrading firmware to 5.52f. Firmware can be downloaded from the Billion website. Please note that 5.52f configuration files may not work on firmware prior to 5.52.

All new Billion modems purchased from Internode are now being shipped with firmware version 5.52f or later. Billion routers purchased from Internode after Monday 23rd of April 2007 will have the RFC2833 DTMF setting enabled by Internode.
