How to Change Your Dialup Access Number
Here is a short guide on how to change the dialup number on the various operating systems.
Windows 95, 98, ME.
Windows 2000.
Windows NT.
Apple MAC OS 7.x with FreePPP.
Apple MAC OS 7.x with ConfigPPP.
Apple MAC OS 8.
Apple MAC OS 9.
Windows 95, 98, ME.
- Double-click the My Computer icon on your desktop.
- Double-click the Dialup Networking icon.
- Right Click the mouse on the dialup connection that you wish to change, then select Properties from the drop down menu (this will be the bottom entry).
- Delete the telephone number currently displayed and type in the new Internode dialup number you wish to connect to. (Note: Do not insert your OWN telephone number).
- Click OK.
Windows 2000
- Click the Start button and select Settings.
- Select Network and Dialup Connections.
- Right Click the mouse on the dialup connection that you wish to change, then select Properties from the drop down menu (this will be the bottom entry).
- Delete the telephone number currently displayed and type in the new Internode dialup number you wish to connect to. (Note: Do not insert your OWN telephone number).
- Click OK.
Windows NT
- Double-click the My Computer icon on your desktop.
- Double-click the Dialup Networking icon.
- From the drop-down list labeled Phonebook entry to dial, select the Internode dialup connection.
- Click More.
- Select Edit entry and modem properties..
- In the box labeled Phone number, delete the telephone number currently displayed and type in the new Internode dialup number you wish to connect to. (Note:Do not insert your OWN telephone number).
- Click OK.
- Click Close.
MAC OS 7.x with FreePPP
- Locate the telephone icon on your menu bar. Click on it and select Open FreePPP Setup.
- Click on the Accounts tab (Note: If you cannot see an "Accounts" tab, click the small arrow in the bottom-left of the window to open up the full screen of options).
- Select the Internode account you wish to change the dialup number for, then click Edit.
- Delete the telephone number currently displayed in the Phone number box, and type in the new Internode dialup number you wish to connect to. (Note: Do not insert your OWN telephone number).
- Check that Connect to is set to Directly.
- No other options should be changed. Click OK.
MAC OS 7.x with ConfigPPP
- Choose Control Panels from the Apple Menu.
- Open the Config PPP Control Panel.
- Click the Config button.
- Delete the telephone number currently displayed in the Phone num box, and type in the new Internode dialup number you wish to connect to. (Note: Do not insert your OWN telephone number).
- Click Done.
- Close the ConfigPPP Window
MAC OS 8
- From the Apple menu, go to Control Panels, and across to select Remote Access.
- If you have more than one dialup connection, make sure the connection you are about to modify is the correct one. If not, select the correct one as follows:
- Go to the File menu and select Configurations
- Click on the correct connection name, then click
- Delete the telephone number currently displayed in the Number box, and type in the new Internode dialup number you wish to connect to. (Note: Do not insert your OWN telephone number).
- Go to the File menu and select Quit When prompted, click the Save button
MAC OS 9
- From the Apple menu, go to Control Panels, then across to select Remote Access.
- If you have more than one dialup connection, make sure the connection you are about to modify is the correct one. If not, select the correct one as follows:
- Go to the File menu and select Configurations.
- Click on the correct connection name, then click Make Active.
- The dialup number is located on the screen below your username and password. (Note: If this information is not visible, click the small arrow next to the word Setup at the top of the window to display all settings). Delete the telephone number currently displayed in the Number box, and type in the new Internode dialup number you wish to connect to. (Note: Do not insert your OWN telephone number).
- Go to the File menu and select Quit.
- When prompted, click the Save button.
