Call us on 1300 308 490 to start your move

It's best to lodge your relocation with us 2-3 weeks before your moving date.

Unless you tell us that you're moving, we'll keep billing you for your existing services.

Important things to note

  • Fixed-line broadband and phone services are not portable technologies. You need to cancel your existing services, and order new ones at your new location. In some areas, the technology used to deliver your service will need to change.
  • If you have Internode ADSL2+ broadband but your Home Phone (landline) isn't provided by Internode, you'll need to confirm that your Home Phone (landline) is active at your new address before we can relocate your ADSL2+ broadband service.
  • Relocation work that requires a technician to visit your address cannot commence until you have the keys to your new property.

When you take up a fresh 24-month contract at your new address

  • You’ll pay no early cancellation fees for your existing contract.
  • There’ll be no broadband setup fees for the service at your new address.
  • You can get a new WiFi modem included with your order, or a $50 discount on the purchase of our premium FRITZ!Box modem router available when you sign up to a new NBN service with Internode.

Please note: If you are moving to a newly developed NBN™ estate, NBN Co may charge a New Development fee of $300. This is a wholesale fee that applies to all connections, no matter which ISP you choose.

When you roll over an existing contract or select a monthly contract

  • You'll pay no early cancellation fees for your existing Internode contract.
  • Standard setup fees will apply for the service at your new address.
  • You can roll over no matter how old your existing Internode contract is.

Similarly, no early cancellation fees apply but setup fees do apply for customers with completed or monthly contracts.

Setup fees vary depending on the type of broadband you're getting at your new address. To find out what's available in your area, check your new address on our website.

We’ll cancel your existing service on the date you specify. Unless you request a delay, we’ll also attempt to connect your new service as close to this date as possible. Please note that due to a number of factors, we cannot guarantee that we'll be able to get your new service connected on exactly the date that you request but we always work hard to keep any downtime to a minimum.

Service type Estimated relocation timeframes
NBN Between 5 and 20 business days**
Easy Naked ADSL2+ Up to 21 business days
Easy Broadband & Easy Reach ADSL2+ At least 5 business days once the Home Phone service is active
NodeLine Home Phone where an active phone line is already present at new address Up to 2 business days
NodeLine Home Phone where a new landline must be installed at new address (urban areas) Up to 5 business days
NodeLine Home Phone where a new landline must be installed at new address (major rural areas) Up to 10 business days
Home Phone where a new landline must be installed at new address (minor rural & remote areas) Up to 15 business days
Fibre Estates Up to 10 business days if established infrastructure is present**

*Actual timeframes may differ based on external factors, technician availability and workload.

** If no infrastructure has been previously established at the new address, timeframes are subject to technician availability and installation requirements from our wholesaler. Non-standard installations may attract additional costs from our wholesaler - the technician will be able to quote these costs if applicable.

Important: If a previous tenant/owner has left an active phone service at your new address, we may not be able to legally proceed with your relocation until that active service has been cancelled or relocated, or you have supplied us with Proof of Occupancy documents.

You can keep your phone number in the vast majority of cases.

Exceptions:

  • It's a landline number attached to a specific telephone exchange and you move to an address that’s serviced by a different telephone exchange.
  • You move to a different geographical call zone/area code, e.g. interstate.

Sadly, Internode only provides service inside Australia. Please give us a call on 1300 889 188 and we’ll help you close your account.

For temporary overseas trips, we can help determine if keeping your account active for the duration of your trip would be more convenient and cost-effective than closing your account and re-opening it upon your return.

Check the status of your relocation

We’ll send you regular updates via email and SMS keeping you up to date with the progress of your relocation. You can also use our status checker page to check for updates online.

Make sure your modem works

If you're moving from ADSL2+ to NBN or Fibre Estates broadband, you may need to buy a new modem/router that supports Ethernet or VDSL2. Older modem/routers for ADSL2+ services may not be compatible with NBN or Fibre Estates.

Plug in your modem at your new place

If you’re getting a different kind of broadband at your new place, you may not be sure how to plug it in and get online. In some cases, you may need to tweak the modem settings, too. Our support guides can show you how to do this:

If you get stuck, our Tech Support team is here to help.

Your invoices during a relocation

As we need to cancel your old fixed-line service during a relocation, you may see an early cancellation charge on your invoice. This early cancellation charge will be credited once your new service is active.

Please note: Internode does not offer pro rata credits. Only full months billed in advance will be credited towards your old service/s.

You may see two monthly charges on the first invoice for the service at your new address. This covers the current month, plus one month in advance. After that, your invoices will only have one monthly fee.
