Since July 2011, when Internode became Australia's first broadband provider to announce its NBN prices, NBNCo has made significant revisions to its Concentrating Virtual Circuit (CVC) pricing model that address major cost overheads previously present during the ramp-up period of the NBN commercial roll-out.
These changes, along with other significant improvements negotiated by Internode in its underlying supply economics since July, have enabled Internode to offer its customers a range of great new retail plans to launch the commercial phase of the NBN.
Internode has reduced the price of all NBN plans (relative to those announced in July), starting with a reduction in the entry level (12/1 Mbps) plan tier of $10 per month, with plans now starting from only $49.95 per month. The cost differential to move to higher NBN line speeds has also been substantially reduced. For example, 100/40 Mbps port speed services now start from only $74.95 per month.
Internode has also created greater choice and significantly boosted value-for-money in the mid-level data quotas of its new NBN plan table by increasing the previous 200 GB data quota tier to 300 GB and doubling the 300 GB data quota tier to a massive 600 GB. Importantly all Internode NBN plans offer access quota on a 'use any time' basis, instead of splitting up quota into 'peak' and 'off-peak' sub-quotas.
Internode managing director Simon Hackett said the key to Internode's revised NBN plan table was choice. "We're offering customers more data quota and at better prices than we announced back in July," he said. "We have removed the requirement to bundle voice services, reduced entry level price, and increased customer flexibility with this revision to our NBN plans".
All of Internode's NBN plans announced today can be ordered immediately in all NBN coverage areas nationally by calling 13 66 33.
The following table summarises the revised prices and data quotas for Internode's residential NBN services.
|Name||Port Speed *||30 GB||300 GB||600 GB||1 TB|
* Port speeds noted here are the nominal NBN access port speeds only and are not necessarily indicative of the Internet data transfer speeds the services will achieve in practice.
Note: A NodePhone voice telephone service, retaining your old copper line phone number, can be added to any of these plans, starting from a $0 monthly rental cost for "pay as you go" NodePhone calls. Other NodePhone plans offer 2-for-1 bonus call credit based on the plan price selected.
In its revised NBN plans, Internode has removed the requirement to bundle a voice service with its NBN broadband Internet plans. Voice services are now an optional extra, starting with a $0 rental cost "pay-as-you-go" voice service and offering other voice plans that include increased call value.
NodePhone VoIP telephone services, which can be added to any NBN service, include "Local Number Portability", allowing customers to keep their current copper-based phone number when they move to the NBN.
NodePhone VoIP plans for the NBN start from a $0 monthly rental plan that delivers incoming calls on your existing phone number and offers outbound calls at attractive NodePhone pay-as-you-go call rates. These include free calls to all Internode NodePhone customers nationally plus local and national fixed line calls at 18c per call, untimed.
Other available NodePhone VoIP plans provide a 2:1 call credit that can be applied to all outbound call charges. A $5 per month plan provides a $10 monthly call credit and $10 per month plan provides $20 of monthly call credit. For example, a customer on a $10 per month NodePhone VoIP plan could use their $20 monthly credit to place 111 local or national fixed line calls in a month at an effective per-call cost of 9c per call.
Internode's NodePhone VoIP services are available on the NBN now.
Internode is offering its NBN customers discounted prices on three of its fibre-ready broadband routers when they sign up for an Internode NBN service: These specials include taking $50 off of the price of a NetComm entry level router router, and taking $100 off the price of the award winning multi-function FRITZ!Box 7270 or the FRITZ!Box 7390 routers.
Full details of Internode's NBN plans are available at: www.internode.on.net/nbn/. These NBN plans may be ordered now, and will be deployed by Internode starting in the first week of October 2011.
Existing Internode NBN trial access customers across Australia will be contacted by Internode over the coming few months to change them over to their choice of plans from this commercial plan set.
