Email configuration for Android (HTC)

This guide is suitable for Android (HTC) phones such as the Desire HD, or the HTC One X. Please note that Samsung Android phones have a different user interface.

What we'll cover:

  • Configuring an Internode email account on an Android (HTC) phone

Not what you're looking for? Try the Samsung Android guide, the iPhone guide or the Windows Phone 7 guide.

While email setup is generally standardised across most Android phones, because Android is open-source software, the Mail client on your Android phone may appear completely different to the one shown in this guide.

This guide has been tested on the following Android phones:

  • Desire HD (Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread)
  • HTC One X (Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich)

Configuring an Internode email account on an Android phone

Step 1

  • Open the Mail application.
    • If this is the first time you have used your Mail application, you will be presented with an email setup wizard.
    • If this is not the first time you have used your Mail application, select Menu then Add Account to start the wizard.
  • The "Choose a mail provider" screen will appear. Select Other (POP3/IMAP) from the list.

NOTE:You can also get to this screen by going to your phone's Settings, then Accounts & Sync then Add, and finally Mail.

Step 5

  • Set an Account Name for your email account - this will help you identify the account if you have more than one email service set up on your phone.
  • Ensure your name or business name appears in the Your name field. This is how your name appears to others when they receive email from you.
  • Once your settings are correct, click Finish setup to complete the wizard.
