Email Spam Information

Internet Port Filtering

Port Filtering provides increased Internet protection to customers using HOME and Easy connections. The service includes:

  • Blocking common virus and file sharing ports.
  • Blocking direct outgoing SMTP email not sent through the Internode email server.
  • These features are on by default for HOME and Easy services and can be activated for SOHO, Power Pack, and Business services. See the FAQ for more information.

Spam and Virus Email Filtering

Internode provides, free of charge to our customers, a comprehensive spam and virus filtering system. This service includes:

  • Adjustable spam filter settings, including whitelists, blacklists and Friends.
  • Virus scanning and filtering (messages containing viruses are deleted).
  • These features are on by default for all Internode POP/IMAP email accounts - spam settings are set to a 'light' option; this can be adjusted by clicking on the link below.

How to report spam to Internode and other providers

If you believe you've received unsolicited (spam) email from Internode or another provider or company, here's how you can report it.

If you've received unsolicited email from:

  • Another Internode customer - please send details to our support team, including full email headers.
  • Another ISP or network within Australia or regarding an Australian company - please see the ACMA website for further information
  • Another ISP, network, or company outside of Australia - please see the ACMA website for further information
