This involves the conversion of an existing active telephone service into an Internode NakedExtreme ADSL2+ service, with only a brief outage. This tends to be the most convenient method, since no site visit is required.
You can order NakedExtreme ADSL2+ via Convert Active Telephone Service here, with a $79 setup fee on a 24 month contract, or a $129 setup fee if you prefer a monthly contract. The typical timeframe from when you place your order to the cutover occurring is two to four weeks, and please note:
If you choose to convert an existing telephone service to NakedExtreme ADSL2+, then you need to be aware that:
If you already have an ADSL service on your phone line, and you'd like to convert that phone line into a NakedExtreme ADSL2+ service, then you need to be aware of some limitations with this process.
Essentially, the issue is whether your current ADSL service is provided via a Telstra Wholesale / Big Pond ADSL port; or whether it is delivered via a 'Spectrum Sharing' service to any other type of DSLAM port.
If you are currently an Internode ADSL customer, simply click here to find out. On the results screen, you will see the last row of the table is called 'Carrier for ADSL Port'. If this is listed as 'Internode', then your line is connected to an ADSL2+ capable Internode DSLAM port via a Spectrum Sharing service - and cannot be converted to Internode Easy Naked.
Remember, you may be connected to an Internode DSLAM even if you do not have an Extreme® ADSL2+ service.
Naturally if you have an existing ADSL service with another provider, you'll need to check with them how it is being delivered (ie via Telstra Wholesale or Spectrum Sharing). Also, please check carefully with your current provider regarding your contractual commitments and break / disconnection fees. Internode is not responsible for these charges.
Excellent - it's very likely your phone line can be easily and quickly converted to NakedExtreme ADSL2+, with minimal downtime. The only issue is if you are connected via a RIM - but it's worth placing the order anyway. If for any reason we can't complete the transfer, we'll let you know and no charges will apply.
Unfortunately this means that your phone line is unsuitable for conversion to NakedExtreme ADSL2+. Some alternatives for you to consider are:
Unfortunately, when we try to do this, the request to convert a copper line over to NakedExtreme ADSL2+ (unbundled line) from an Extreme ADSL2+ (spectrum sharing) service is refused by our wholesale supplier. Even though it is technically feasible to do this, and in physical terms it involves simply removing one jumper wire at the exchange!
Naturally we, along with most other competitive service providers, are lobbying hard for this barrier to be overcome. It's not a problem that is unique to NakedExtreme ADSL2+; nor is it unique to Internode - it's an industry-wide problem.
We don't recommend it. While it is possible in principle to move to NakedExtreme ADSL2+ on your current line by cancelling your existing Extreme ADSL2+ service and then submitting an order to 'convert' the phone line to NakedExtreme ADSL2+, please be aware that there are substantial risks if you do this of losing access to broadband completely, and permanently.
There are a number of circumstances in which your voice infrastructure provider may decide to change your service if you request that your current broadband is removed. You could be immediately connected to a RIM for example, and it then becomes impossible to transition your voice service to NakedExtreme ADSL2+ - or even to go back to Extreme ADSL2+! Regardless, you'll certainly have a significant outage in the meantime.
This just underscores that the best way to do this transition is the way that our wholesale copper line provider currently refuses to allow us to use. We continue to work hard to try to convince them (directly and indirectly) to change their mind about that situation and to resolve it for the sake of consumers and the industry.
