These connections involve installing your NakedExtreme ADSL2+ service on to an existing spare ('vacant') copper pair at your premises. The service will be installed to your network boundary point, and it is important that you understand exactly what this means.
The most common network boundary point in a house is the 'first socket'. When NakedExtreme ADSL2+ is installed, your existing phone socket may be upgraded from a single point to a double point. Alternatively NakedExtreme ADSL2+ may be installed on an existing phone socket that is not currently being used; or it may be installed on to an entirely new socket. It depends on what is available at your specific premises, and is entirely at the discretion of the installation technician.
Some houses and units have an external telecommunications cabinet, often referred to as a 'Luka box'. While this is not defined as a network boundary point, you are responsible for the internal cabling from this cabinet to your phone socket.
Multi-dwelling units such as larger apartment buildings and unit complexes often have a centralised telecommunications cabinet or room - this is the Main Distribution Frame (MDF). Whenever this is the case, your network boundary point - the point to which we can deliver your service - is the MDF.
But this isn't where you'll want to use the service! So you will be required to arrange - and pay for - the services of a licensed cabler to connect the service to a socket in your apartment or unit. This is entirely your responsibility. And remember to include your building manager in this process, as the MDF room is usually locked!
We'll send you details on where your service is connected at the MDF on your completion notification. Your cabler may need this information to correctly connect your service, so keep it handy.
In almost all business premises, the network boundary point is the building's Main Distribution Frame (MDF). As with apartments, the services of a licensed cabler are required to connect the service to a socket where you require the NakedExtreme ADSL2+ service.
Like most physical telecommunications services in business premises, such cabling activity is entirely your responsibility and your expense.
Please appreciate that we incur wholesale rental charges from the moment that your service is connected to your network boundary point. Billing starts from your first login, or within seven days (whichever occurs first). This seven days is your window to complete any cabling that is required beyond the network boundary point. After seven days, we'll commence billing for your service regardless of whether you have arranged the cabling or not.
If this all sounds too difficult, then we recommend Converting an Active Telephone Service to NakedExtreme ADSL2+. There's no site visit or additional cabling associated with conversions it simply uses the cabling that's already carrying the phone service.
Naturally you might live in a Multiple Dwelling Unit and not have an existing active telephone service to convert. In this case please refer to 'If you don't have spare copper' below.
In almost all cases, this type of order requires a visit to your premises by an installation technician. You'll need to specify a date and time (morning or afternoon) that you can be on site to provide access for the installation technician. You’ll also need to be flexible enough to have these appointments rescheduled without too much inconvenience, as unfortunately this can occur based on circumstances beyond Internode's control.
It isn't possible to determine this until you place an order. We'll then perform a detailed service qualification as part of the provisioning process, to check for the availability of a spare copper pair.
No problems - the order will proceed and the installation usually takes about four weeks.
After your NakedExtreme ADSL2+ service has been installed, you can then choose to cancel or retain any existing telephone service - with or without any associated ADSL service - that's entirely up to you.
If it's Internode ADSL Standard, Plus or TwoPlus; any applicable early cancellation charge will be waived. Furthermore - as part of the online signup process - you can choose to have your existing username migrated across to the new service when it becomes active, and your old service cancelled, automatically.
Otherwise, please check carefully with your current provider regarding your contractual commitments and break / disconnection fees. Internode is not responsible for these charges.
No problems - we'll let you know and your options are:
If you don't have a telephone service to convert, one option is for you to arrange for the connection of an 'ADSL Essential / NPGDSL' telephone line through a telephony provider, and then convert that to NakedExtreme ADSL2+. This approach does not guarantee that you will be able to receive NakedExtreme ADSL2+; and Internode is not responsible for any third-party charges that you may incur.
