This involves the conversion of an existing active Telstra (Retail or Wholesale) landline telephone service into an Internode Easy Naked service, with only a brief outage. This tends to be the most convenient method, since no site visit is required.
How to convert a phone service to Easy Naked
Simply order Easy Naked via Convert Active Telephone Service, with a $79 setup fee on a 24 month contract, or a $129 setup fee if you prefer a monthly contract.
The typical timeframe from when you place your order to the cutover activity occurring is two to three weeks, and please note:
- You won't need to cancel your existing phone service - that will happen automatically when the conversion is done. In fact if you cancel your phone service first, the conversion order will fail! However you should contact your voice provider after you have been cutover to Easy Naked, to ensure your billing is finalised with them.
- If you also have ADSL on that phone service, you may need to contact your current ISP to get that cancelled. Once again, you should only do this after your service has been cutover to Easy Naked.
Important Notes
If you choose to convert an existing telephone service to Easy Naked, then you need to be aware that:
- We offer phone number 'porting' of Telstra-based phone numbers into NodePhone in selected areas - in particular, where the Easy Naked is delivered via an Internode DSLAM. Otherwise, you will permanently lose your existing telephone number.
- Easy Naked does not provide support for any 'traditional' analog / voice services, including telephones (except via VoIP) and any service that requires an analog modem connection, such as most monitored alarm systems, EFTPOS machines, fax machines, dialup modems, etc.
- Easy Naked customers who choose to port their number to NodePhone, will be able to choose from any of the Internode NodePhone2 VoIP plans. Where porting is not possible customers may choose to purchase a separate Internode NodePhone VoIP service. This is a fully featured voice over IP telephony service that can both make calls to, and receive calls from, the public switched telephone network. However while it is of a high availability design, it should not be relied upon for emergency communications (for example if you or any other resident have a serious medical condition). NodePhone requires AC electrical power at your premises in order to operate.
Do you already have ADSL on your phone line?
Recently there have been improvements in the process for converting phone lines to Easy Naked. In particular, the existence of an ADSL service on your current phone line no longer prevents the conversion of that phone line to Easy Naked.
If you have a phone service with an existing Internode ADSL service (via an Internode or Telstra Wholesale ADSL port), we'll waive the early cancellation charge on your pre-existing service.
- Furthermore - as part of the online signup process - you can choose to have your existing username migrated across to the new service when it becomes active, and your old service cancelled, automatically.
Naturally if your ADSL is currently with another provider, you'll need to check with them regarding your contractual commitments and break / disconnection fees. Internode is not responsible for these charges.
