How does it work?

From 1 July 2014, some retail stores started selling Fetch set top boxes.

  • Once you've set up your set top box, go to fetch.com.au/activate to subscribe directly with Fetch.
  • You will then receive an activation code from Fetch. Your set top box will not work without an activation code.

Please note that all data used by retail Fetch services will be metered by Internode.

What are the differences between buying a Fetch set top box in store and getting Fetch through Internode?

There are many differences between a Fetch set top box purchased in a store, and Internode's Fetch service. These include different pricing and different content offered each month. See our comparison table for further details.

Are there any advantages to getting Fetch through Internode rather than from a store?

Yes there are.

If you're on a plan that is eligible for unmetered data, all subscription TV channels, movies, and TV on demand is unmetered. You won't chew through your monthly quota each time you sit down to watch the latest new release film.

We'll also simply add your Fetch fees to your monthly broadband invoice.

I am an Internode Broadband customer and I have purchased a set top box in a store. What does this mean for me?

First, head to the Fetch website and sign up for a Fetch service.

Please note that because this is not an Internode service, this Fetch service will count towards your monthly quota. Only Internode Fetch services on eligible broadband plans are unmetered.

Fetch will bill you each month for your service, and for any movies or extra subscriptions. Technical support will also be handled directly by by Fetch. More information is available at the Fetch website.

Can I buy a Fetch STB from a retail store and sign up for Fetch through Internode?

Not yet. At this stage you must sign up for a service directly through Fetch.

Can I transfer my current Fetch service over to an Internode Fetch service?

Not at the moment.

What speed is required for the Fetch over the top service?

Similar to an Internode Fetch service, we recommend at least 3 Mbps to maintain a Fetch service.

What if I buy a Fetch box from the store and find that my connection speed is not optimal for the Fetch service?

If your connection speed is less than 3 Mbps, you can still record, series tag, and playback free-to-air television. Pay-Per-View movies are also available, although they will take longer to download before you can start watching.

You can also add subscription television, however you may have a degraded experience. This is due to the connection speed, and will possibly affect your general internet usage.

How is the content delivered?

All subscription channels and movies are delivered by Fetch directly and not by Internode. This means that the download will count to your monthly quota.

Free-to-air television is delivered through your television antenna and not through the Fetch service.

How much quota is my Fetch service likely to use?

As a general rule, the premium Channel Packs use an average of 80–100 GB of data per month. This includes Video on Demand and subscription channel views.

A standard-definition movie is 2 GB on average and a high-definition movie averages 4.5 GB. The amount of data you use relates to how much content you watch. Movies, subscription channels, and video on demand will use more data (and quota) than free-to-air channels and free-to-air recordings.

I have an Internode Fetch service. Does this mean that I can purchase an additional Set Top Box from a retail store?

Yes you can.

However, you cannot sign up for an Internode Fetch service with a set top box purchased from a retail store. You must sign up for a service directly from Fetch.

You also cannot combine a retail-purchased Fetch set top box with an Internode-purchased set top box for Multiroom.
