Fibre to the Home (FTTH)

High speed broadband and telephone services delivered over optical fibre are being deployed across the South Brisbane exchange area.

Due to the planned demolition of the South Brisbane exchange (to enable the construction of a new children's hospital), all broadband and telephone services delivered over copper will be phased out by December 2012.

High speed broadband and telephone services delivered over optical fibre will be progressively deployed, via a new Fibre Access Broadband (FAB) network.

Coverage Area

Internode customers in the South Brisbane exchange area will be affected by this network upgrade. Our fibre broadband and telephone services are now available to both new and existing customers, as the new network is rolled out across the exchange area.

** To use Fibre Access Broadband, you need a fixed-line phone service. You have the choice of our NodeLine phone service (with bundling discount on your broadband), or a suitable fixed-line phone service from another provider.

Fibre Access Broadband - Features and Options

We've also included our standard broadband feature pack at no extra charge:

  • Fixed monthly charge - if your download quota is exceeded, we simply shape your service to 128/128 kbps for the rest of your billing month. Faster excess shaping is available with an option pack; and you can purchase a Data Block for an on-demand quota top up.
  • Up to five free spam & virus filtered email accounts and 50 MB of personal webspace.
  • A variety of unmetered download content including streaming radio stations; games.on.net; massive file mirrors; ABC iView and fetchtv online content - and more!

Internet professionals and business customers can also enhance their service via a choice of option packs.

Make sure you get the best performance from your fibre broadband service with our extensive range of broadband routers and VoIP phone equipment.

The Migration of Existing Internode ADSL Customers

As well as a general notification to all Internode customers in the South Brisbane exchange during June 2011, we are in the process of contacting existing customers directly as their specific location is scheduled for migration.

Existing customers can then select from the following options:

  • Migrate to an Internode Fibre Access Broadband plan. No setup charge applies; and we can provide you with a free NetComm NP803n Ethernet router (RRP $99) if required. Your existing ADSL contract term (if any) will be carried across to your new service. Remember, a phone service is also required, and we recommend NodeLine as a suitable solution - no setup charge applies.
  • Replace your broadband connection with an Internode NodeMobile 3G service. This is a cost-effective and convenient alternative to Fibre Access Broadband for light broadband requirements.
  • Cancel your existing Internode ADSL (and if applicable NodeLine) services.

Regardless of which option you chose, no early cancellation charges will be applied to your existing Internode ADSL or NodeLine service.

Signups for New Customers

You can sign up for Internode broadband and telephone services in South Brisbane using our standard online signup system. Simply select Easy Broadband and NodeLine; and an Internode Customer Support Representative will check the migration status of your address; and contact you with the most appropriate option:

  • This may be a copper based service (ie Easy Broadband ADSL2+) if the specific address has not yet been migrated.
  • Alternatively, if the address has already been migrated to Fibre Access Broadband, you will be able to select from the plans described on this page.

 

Internode ADSL services are still available in the areas of South Brisbane exchange
that have not yet been converted to fibre. You can connect via ADSL today,
and enjoy a stress-free migration to fibre when it is available in your area!
