Internode has recruited globetrotting new media executive Tom McQueen, who has led a range of multinational digital media projects, to head up its new Internode Media division.

Internode picks McQueen to lead new media team

04-05-2009

Tom McQueenIn line with its strategy to use interesting and relevant content as a service differentiator, Internode has appointed Tom to lead a 12-person team that acts as an in-house digital media agency delivering rich content, applications and services via a range of platforms.

Internode Media is responsible for managing well-established areas such as the Internode Games Network and Internet radio as well as new initiatives including TiVo, iPhone apps, and chumby.

Tom McQueen is an experienced Internet professional after a decade working in the new media, broadband and telecommunications sectors. With a Computer and Information Science degree from the University of South Australia and an MBA from LaTrobe, Tom began his career with Telstra before heading overseas where he worked for some of the UK's leading digital media agencies. During three and a half years in London, he worked on new media projects for clients including Audi and Microsoft.

Tom said Internode had offered the ideal incentive to return to Australia. "I enjoyed my time in London, but it's hard to match the lifestyle that's available in Adelaide," he said.

"My role at Internode provides the opportunity to use and extend the skills I've acquired overseas to work at the cutting edge of digital media in Australia. Internode Media has been set up with a talented team to create great content that both attracts and retains customers."

"As the broadband market matures, Internode will increasingly distinguish itself by offering a richer, easier and more interesting online experience for its customers."
