Internode's International network has expanded to encircle the globe with a new Point of Presence in London, with links from the UK to the US and to Singapore.

Internode network POPs into UK to circle the globe

29-06-2010

With more than 15.5 gigabits per second of international data capacity linking Australia to the Internet globally, Internode now maintains overseas points of presence in San Jose, Los Angeles and Ashburn in the US, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore, Auckland as well as the new POP in London. The recent network expansion had also established a direct link between Singapore and the new London POP as well as new links from London to Internode POPs in the United States.

Internode CEO Patrick Tapper said the Asia-Europe connection was a big one. "It means we can now reach anywhere in our network, both ways, around the world," he said. "This is a significant milestone for Internode. We pride ourselves on running a great network and it's now even better. A more direct data transit route to Europe, and redundant global paths, reduces chances for network congestion and packet loss to creep in."

"It also means we're managing the network links end to end all the way to yet another continent, which improves our overall ability to run a great network, and to influence the outcomes better if there is ever a major international link failure."

"Internode is unusual at its industry tier for the level of investment it has made - and continues to make – in acquiring its own dedicated international links and managing them with its own dedicated routers, around the world. This all about generating the highest quality result that we can - and it's a significant differentiator compared to a provider that buys international traffic out of Sydney from the lowest bidder, with no control over routing beyond that gateway point."
