Internode has started delivering Fibre to the Home (FTTH) services at a new Victorian real estate development, in a partnership with wholesale network operator OPENetworks.

Internode unveils fourth Fibre to the Home platform

30-07-2010

Since Monday, July 26, Internode has offered its range of FTTH broadband services, running at 25, 50 and 100 megabits per second, to residents at Lakeside Pakenham, 55 kilometres from the Melbourne CBD.

Lakeside Pakenham is a Delfin Lend Lease development that comprises a stunning waterside community designed around a 6.5 hectare lake. More than 31 hectares of open space feature a 17 kilometres hike and bike trail that links together a series of landscaped parks, formal gardens, an outdoor amphitheatre, reserves and wetlands.

Internode is building up extensive expertise in delivering FTTH services on a range of platforms and technologies. The national company already services hundreds of FTTH customers at nine locations in Queensland, NSW, Victoria and SA through its partnership with OptiComm. Internode is also participating in the Telstra Fibre to the Premises trial at Point Cook, Victoria, and this month connected its first customer to the NBN Stage One initiative in Tasmania.

As well as its FTTH broadband services, Internode is offering Lakeside Pakenham residents access to NodePhone Fibre telephony services, which provide 18-cent untimed national calls and competitive international rates.

Internode product manager Jim Kellett said Internode’s multi-partner FTTH strategy was about delivering the best result for customers. "By working with network operators on a range of platforms, we’re developing a deep understanding of what's needed to make FTTH services really hum," he said.

"Internode has an outstanding reputation as a provider in this emerging field, so our partnership with OPENetworks is about extending that expertise."
