Internode has opened a Brisbane office to accelerate its strong growth rate which saw Queensland contribute nearly 15 per cent of its revenues in the past year.

Internode aims for next level with new Brisbane office

01-09-2010

Internode has opened its Adelaide Street office to provide corporate customers with on-the-ground expertise about the company's range of business-grade services. As well as Business ADSL2+ broadband services, these include Private IP (Internet Protocol) networks, synchronous (SHDSL) Internet access services and, increasingly, Cloud-based services such as Virtual Private Servers.

Internode is kicking off its Brisbane office with four staff, comprising two business development managers, a pre-sales engineer and a sales support/office administration person. The new office is located at 215 Adelaide Street, above Brisbane's Central train station.

Internode national sales manager Daryl Knight said the Brisbane office was intended to open doors. "Queensland is already a major market for Internode, so this is about taking it to the next level," he said.

"Our primary focus is on building business relationships because commercial and enterprise organisations contribute about 40 per cent of Internode's total revenues nationally. We are aiming to achieve that level of activity in Queensland."

"Whereas residential broadband sales are quite straightforward decisions, based on quality of service and price, business purchases are more complicated. The team we’re putting into our Brisbane office will assist businesses with choosing the right configuration of services to meet their specific needs."

Internode is Australia's largest privately owned broadband company with more than 190,000 fixed line broadband customers nationally and more than 450 staff at its Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane offices. Demonstrating its strong presence in the corporate market, more than one quarter of Internode’s revenues come from its top 1000 customers.

Internode already has a substantial presence in Queensland, with about 20 telephone exchanges equipped with its own ADSL2+ broadband equipment and more exchanges on its "Build" list. Internode can provide corporate customers with high speed communication services through both Private IP MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching) networks and Internet services running as fast as Gigabit Ethernet speeds. Nationally, Internode's most popular business services include:

  • SHDSL (Symmetrical High-Density Digital Subscriber Line) services, which use bonded copper pairs to deliver aggregated high-speed broadband that runs at the same speed both ways, at speeds as fast as 40 megabits per second
  • Internode Business Connect Private IP networks, which provide companies with dedicated private networks that can connect premises throughout Australia and New Zealand
  • Cloud computing services such as Virtual Private Servers.
