With more than 4700 live streams flowing from Adelaide's Botanic Park, WOMADelaide 2014 is Internode's most successful livestream event ever – with 50 per cent more demand than in 2013.
Also, music fans have downloaded more than 4000 video-on-demand versions of these high-definition recordings since they were published about a week ago. Internode's livestreaming success occurred a week after Arrested Development retweeted the gig to more than 80,000 followers.
As well as Arrested Development, Internode's livestream lineup included Portuguese fado chanteuse Carminho, Algerian activist singer Rachid Taha, Melbourne soul band Saskwatch, Japanese funk outfit Osaka Monaurail, and French reggae group Dub Inc. Most of these performances can be viewed from Internode's Freezone replay streams.
WOMADelaide 2014 drew more than 90,000 people during its four days, with record ticket sales on its Friday night opening and on Saturday evening, when Arrested Development played.
As Presenting Partner, Internode played a high profile role at WOMADelaide, As well as streaming shows live from Internode Centre Stage and from the Taste The World tent, Internode provided the centrally-located Internode Lounge, a great place to get to get out of the sun, with comfortable seating, a free chargebar for recharging mobile phones, and a Cibo cafe for coffee and gelati.
Cibo Espresso reports that WOMAD attendees consumed more than 6000 cups of coffee and 500 litres of gelati from its Internode Lounge cafe over the weekend.
A highlight of the WOMADelaide weekend was the Internode Powered by Brains tent, which invited festivalgoers to don a sensor-rich helmet that used electrical energy from their brainwaves to generate music. More than 130 people took advantage of this unique opportunity, with the results published online at Internode Powered by Brains.
Internode's distinctive orange logo was highly visible at WOMADelaide through thousands of Internode-branded "bumboxes", foldable cardboard seats that let people sit and watch performances in comfort. Fitting the event's "green philosophy", these clever seats can be either re-used or recycled.
