About Internode

Internode is a globally connected IP carrier. We manage our own private network that has high capacity links between the Australian capital cities and between Australia, the United States, and Asia.

About our Network

NetworkOur network has been designed from the ground up as a scalable, reliable, and high performance global Internet Protocol (IP) network.

We've invested in multiple points of presence around the world; a private IP backbone network; and multiple upstream and peering connections to ensure a highly available network service. The Internode network doesn't rely on any one upstream or peering provider, thereby ensuring maximum performance and resiliency to normal everyday Internet events for our customers.

Our national network extends to all major capital cities within Australia and our global network extends to San Jose (Silicon Valley) and Los Angeles in the United States; and to Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan in Asia.

Our network also supports native IPv6, and dual-stack connectivity is available across our network at all points of presence.

Network highlights:

  • National points of presence in Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Perth, Hobart, and Darwin.
  • International points of presence in San Jose, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Auckland.
  • Cross-connected, geographically independent points of presence in most Australian capital cities provide redundancy. Each major point of presence is capable of sustaining the load of our customer base in that region. Which means that in the event of a failure, connectivity is still available through the second point of presence, keeping downtime to a minimum.
  • We peer at multiple major Internet 'peering' exchanges across Australia and around the world.
  • We also peer with major content providers like Akamai, Google, and Netflix.
  • Connectivity to our global network is from two points of presence in Sydney and one in Perth, providing geographical redundancy for global connectivity.
  • We have geographically redundant network rings on multiple International cable networks to the United States and South-East Asia, originating from multiple geographically separate points of presence in Australia.
