Internode Woos Broadband with Winning Four-Play

11-11-2004

National broadband innovator Internode has scored a four-play success by collecting the annual Best Broadband award from Australian Personal Computer (APC) magazine.

In the December edition of APC, Internode received the nod for providing the year's Best Broadband Service in the magazine's prestigious Editor's Choice Awards.

"Internode continues to lead the industry with competitively priced broadband schemes, outstanding customer service and impressive reliability," APC reported.

"It has continually challenged industry price points, offering the highest-capacity download plan under $150, with a 64GB allowance at 1.5 Mbps speed. It also has the industry's most generous entry-level plan - $29.95 for the first 500 MB, followed by unlimited usage at reduced speed with no excess charges."

Founded in 1991, Internode is a privately held broadband provider with full national network coverage . The APC award caps off an impressive performance by the company, marking the fourth national award received by the Internode Group during the past two months.

Two weeks ago, Internode won an award for Best Broadband Offering of the Year by an ISP at the Third Annual IT&T (Information Technology & Telecommunications) Awards.

At the start of October, Internode founder and CEO Simon Hackett won the Bulletin-Microsoft Smart 100 IT & Communications Award. This award drew attention to Simon's commitment to delivering broadband technology to Australians living in rural and remote areas.

In September, another company in the Internode Group, Internet age telco Agile Communications, beat Telstra and Optus to collect the Australian Telecom Award as this country's top Broadband / Corporate Wholesale Carrier .

Both Internode and Agile Communications are making a strong impression nationally as broadband technologies change the dynamics of the highly competitive communications industry.

In July, Agile launched cine.net, a joint venture high speed broadband network for the film industry. Also, Internode is planning to launch Voice over IP services in the first quarter of 2005.

In October, Internode threw down the gauntlet to rivals by launching excess-free, no-contract broadband plans for its Home Broadband customers. It has also replaced its 64GB plan with an even better value plan called Internode SOHO-FlatRate. This plan, set at the same price, features a host of 'SOHO' features including a static IP address.
