People visiting the Adelaide Fringe can use the free Internode Wireless "hotspot" at the Garden of Unearthly Delights to check their email, look up show times and even buy tickets online.

Internode Turns on Free Wireless Web at the Fringe

07-03-2007

As well as providing wireless broadband for Fringe performers in the Artists pavilion, Internode has established a wireless hotspot that covers tables in the main food court area of the Fringe “village” in the East Parklands.

The Adelaide Fringe is an annual open access multi arts festival, which takes place over three weeks all over Adelaide. This year's Adelaide Fringe festival runs from March 8 to March 31. Previously biannual to coincide with the Adelaide Festival, it is now held each year for three weeks around February and March.

Internode's wireless hotspot allows anyone with a wireless notebook or PDA to browse the Web for free. It builds on top of Internode's CityLan network, which provides wireless broadband access through many areas of central Adelaide including O'Connell Street in North Adelaide and Hutt Street.

Internode Marketing Officer Kate Harris said the Fringe hotspot was intended to make life easier for Fringe-dwellers to enjoy the event. "While they're having a coffee at a table in the Garden of Unearthly Delights, they can check out the Fringe website for events and even buy tickets to a show," she said.

"This is all part of Internode's investment in making Adelaide the best connected city in Australia."
