The NetComm NB6Plus4 and NB6Plus4W devices are ADSL2+ modem-routers, with Wi-Fi available on the 'W' model. When ordered as part of a new Internode broadband service, it's delivered fully configured - preloaded with your username, password and all Internode specific settings. Hence you can simply follow the NetComm Quick Start Guide (Section 2) to complete the cabling setup, then test your connection.
If you have purchased your router elsewhere, or if you've performed a factory reset on the device you will need to follow all steps in this guide.
Connection of your router will vary depending on whether your ADSL is delivered over the same pair as your telephone service, or if you have Naked ADSL. This is explained at each point in the text below.

1. Connect the port labelled 'Line' on the ADSL Filter/Splitter to your phone socket. Internode includes an in-line ADSL Filter/Splitter with every NetComm ADSL router that we sell.
Note : this step is not required if you have a Naked ADSL service.
2. Connect a phone cable from the port labelled 'ADSL Modem' on the ADSL Filter/Splitter to the port labelled 'Line' on the back of the NetComm router. Please ensure this cable is less than 3 metres long—longer cables can impact the performance of your service.
Note : if you have a Naked ADSL service, simply connect a phone cable from your phone socket, to the port labelled 'Line' on the back of the NetComm router.
3. Connect your telephone to the port labelled 'Phone' on the ADSL Filter/Splitter.
Note : this step is not required if you have a Naked ADSL service.
4. Connect one end of the supplied RJ45 Ethernet Cable to the network interface card on your computer, and connect the other end to any one of the four 'LAN' ports on the back of the NetComm router.
5. Connect the included power supply to the back of the router and plug it into a power outlet.
6 Switch the router on.
If you purchased your NetComm router as part of an Internode broadband service, it should now be ready to use. You should now test your connection by attempting to load web pages in your browser.
Important Note: If you intend on using this router wirelessly, please refer to the Wireless Configuration instructions further down this page.
The following section is designed to help configure the NetComm NBPlus4(W) from scratch. It explains how to configure it with your Internode username/password to connect to the Internet. These settings are pre-configured for devices purchased when signing up to Internode's ADSL services. You should only follow the rest of this guide if you have reset the router to factory defaults, purchased the router elsewhere or you wish to change the pre-configured settings.
1.Open a web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox or Google Chrome) on the computer connected with the Ethernet Cable.
2. Enter the following number into the address bar: http://192.168.1.1/ (this is known as an IP address).

3. The NetComm login box will appear. Enter the router's Username and Password:
4. Click OK.

This will bring up the NetComm configuration page. The initial page shows your Internode login details, if the device has already been configured.
5. Enter your Internode username into the Username field.
Ensure that you use your full email address as the username, eg username@internode.on.net.
6. Enter your Internode password into the Password field.
7. Click Connect

If the configuration was successful you will be presented with a screen confirming this, see below. You should close the NetComm configuration page and test whether you are able to browse.

This guide will step you through how to securely configure the wireless (Wi-Fi) network on your NetComm NB6Plus4W router, and then connect your computer to your new wireless network.
You'll need to have a computer connected to the NetComm router via an Ethernet cable. Browse to the router (192.168.1.1) and log in with the username and password of 'admin'. More specific details on these steps is provided above.
You should now see the web configuration page for your new router. Click on the Wireless icon in the top menu, and the basic wireless settings page will appear:

1. Click on Enable Wireless so a tick appears next to it.
2. In the SSID field, enter a name for your wireless network. It can be anything you like, up to 32 characters. This name will be displayed to any computers nearby that are searching for wireless networks.
Tip: Be aware of your privacy, don’t use your street address, name, ISP or router model as your network SSID. Something generic like 'homewireless' is recommended.
3. Click Save/Apply on the bottom of the page.
4. Click Security from the left hand menu.

5. Ensure the SSID you chose earlier is appearing in the box next to Select Wireless Network.
6. Choose WPA-PSK from the drop down box next to Wireless Security.
7. Choose a password (needs to be at least 8 characters long) and enter into the box next to WPA Pre-Shared Key.
8. Set WPA Encryption to TKIP.
9. Click Apply.
On your computer, search for wireless networks and look for your new network. The name will be what you entered in the SSID above. Click on your network when you find it.
You will then be asked to enter your wireless network password or network key. Enter the password that you entered as the WPA Pre-Shared Key above.
NetComm NB6Plus4 & NB6Plus4W routers sold by Internode can be upgraded to IPv6 firmware. Please note this firmware version is intended for more technically advanced users!
