Dedicated to exceeding customer expectations, Daryl benchmarks high achievements for both himself and his sales team to ensure they are effective advocates for the rich service offering from national broadband innovator Internode.
Daryl is responsible for the Internode Sales group with over 50 team members. The sales team is divided according to market segment - Home, Business, Corporate and Government and the Authorised Partner program.
Daryl is also responsible for the Product Management, Marketing and pre-sales functions at Internode.
“My responsibilities are wide but closely related. Each area is focussed on developing, designing or selling and communicating our capabilities to our current and prospective customers.”
Daryl has spent the past year developing the Internode brand and its supporting sales collateral so that it reflects the capability of the organisation it is today.
“Six years ago Internode was a small Internet Services provider primarily focussed in South Australia. Today Internode is one of the largest IP carriers in Australia with a wide and diverse service offering.”
“We looked into what defines Internode and what makes us great in the eyes of our staff and our customers – and in the end it was quite simple, we love what we do!”
Daryl admits “We have extended our business and corporate clientele Australia wide, yet for many CEO’s we are still widely unknown, there lies my challenge.”
Daryl, who joined Internode in 2002 as an Account Manager, was promoted to National Sales Manager within a year. During this time Internode implemented some of it’s most successful new service offerings.
These include the launch of Internode's Private IP Wide Area Network solution Internode Business Connect (IBC), Internode's Voice over IP service NodePhone, the expansion of Internode's ADSL services and the launch of Australia's first commercial ADSL2+ broadband services.
"Internode's growth has been insanely rapid", admits Daryl. "And we're still expanding."
Internode's largest growth area for business is its offer of Internode Business Connect. Using a range of access technologies to connect sites across Australia, the network provides the 21st Century alternative to traditional Frame Relay and ISDN Wide Area Networks for businesses with multiple sites.
Daryl's technology experience started with eight years at Telstra followed by an account management role at Dimension Data, known as ComTech at the time. Daryl also completed a Bachelor of Management degree with a major in Marketing from the University of South Australia. Daryl's focus on building strong foundations for his sales team begins with his commitment to deliver on your promises.
"My philosophy has always been doing what you say you're going to do and to encourage and stimulate continual improvement", he says. "That's all the motivation I need to get things done properly."
Daryl is married to Michelle and together they have three children under 5. He enjoys lazy days at their holiday house on the Murray River when they get the chance.
