As a customer of Internode Extreme ADSL2+ or NakedExtreme ADSL2+, you have the option of selecting the ideal 'profile' for your ADSL connection. In essence, this changes the technical characteristics of the Agile DSLAM port that your service is connected to.
Please note that customers of Internode Easy Broadband also have full access to "Extreme" line profile changing, if their service is delivered using an Internode direct ADSL2+ port. Where Internode Easy Broadband is delivered on a 1500/256k speed port, line profile changing is not available.
You may wish to change your ADSL profile in order to optimise the stability of your connection; or to minimise the latency of your connection; or to maximise the speed of your connection.
It really depends on you - and what you want to achieve with your Internode broadband service!
There is a trade-off between speed and stability in ADSL2+ services. The faster they are run, the more likely that they will be sensitive to interference, filtering, or connection problems that may cause a connection to 'drop out' from time to time, interrupting your Internet access experience.
To try to make your first experience with Internode ADSL2+ a great one, Internode initially selects a line profile for your service that is tuned to provide high stability, in preference to providing the highest theoretically possible connection speed.
This first line profile, called 'ADSL2+ Initial', includes a number of technical features designed to make your connection stable, including a nominal 8 Megabit per second maximum downstream data speed, the use of 'connection interleaving', support for Annex L ("Long Reach" ADSL) for the best performance on long copper lines, and a high 'target signal to noise' margin.
When you are ready to explore the full capabilities of your line to see just how fast it can run - while appreciating that sometimes this higher speed can come with a need to improve your line, your line filtering, or other factors to avoid your connection becoming unstable - just use the profile changer as described on this page and try some other line profiles, until you find the one that represents the best trade-off between speed and stability for your circumstances.
If you would like advice on selecting the best profile for your situation, please feel free to contact Internode support for further assistance.
If it all goes horribly wrong - for example if you select a profile that your modem doesn't support, or is so unstable you can't log back in to change it - don't panic, just call Internode Support on 13 6633 and we'll fix it up for you!
A selection of profiles are provided for you to choose from, and these are updated by Internode from time to time.
Visit the ADSL2+ Profile Changer to see the current list of available profiles, along with descriptions of what each one is designed to offer.
There's no charge for changing your ADSL profile.
Profile changes typically take 15 minutes to take effect, but may take up to one hour.
Login to My Internode and select Extreme ADSL2+ profiles from the My Services column.
Just move back to a more stable connection profile. There are a also variety of ways in which you may be able to make your connection more stable (and faster!) with simple changes in your own premises. Here is a brief list of just some of them:
