Billion NodePhone Configuration Guide

This guide is for the following Billion router models:

7401VGP-R3 / 7404VGP-X / 7404VGO-X

7404VNP-X / 7404VNO-X

This guide relates specifically to setting up a NodePhone service on your current generation Billion modem.

Logging in to the Billion

1. Open up a web browser on your computer (e.g., Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari etc).

2. Enter the following number into the address bar: http://192.168.1.254/ (this is known as an IP address)

3. The Billion configuration page will open. Enter the modem's Username and Password:

Username: admin

Password: admin

4. Click on the OK or Login button at the bottom of the page.

This will bring up the Billion status page containing details relating to the model and current firmware (the software that runs the modem) version as well as the current status of the modem.

NodePhone Configuration

1. Click on the VoIP option in the left hand side menu.

2. Enter your NodePhone telephone number in both the Username and Phone Number fields and enter your NodePhone Password in the Password field, then press the Apply button.

Advanced NodePhone Configuration

The following section details some of the advanced NodePhone features in the Billion R3 Series. It is not essential that this section be configured, however it is advisable as these settings may help prevent call quality issues.

Codec Preferences

1. Click on the Advanced option in the left hand side menu.

2. Click on the Configuration option in the left hand menu.

3. Click on the VoIP option in the left hand menu.

4. Click on the Phone Port option in the left hand menu.

You will be presented with the following screen:

5. Enter your codec preferences in the same order as the above screen.

Priority One: PCMA (G.711 A-Law)
Priority Two: PCMU (G.711 U-Law)

In most situations Priority Three will not be used, however if you have a low upload speed, choosing G.729 as Priority One may overcome performance issues.

6. Click Apply

Finally, click on Save Config at the bottom right of the page. Click on Apply on the following page.

Saving the Billion configuration

Saving the configuration can take up to 20 seconds, once the configuration has been saved another box may pop up confirming that the save is complete. The page may return to the 'Save Settings' page or to the 'Status' page.

Restart your modem by either switching the modem power off for 1 minute or selecting 'restart' on the bottom right of the page (Ensure that you select 'restart with current settings').
