Why Are These Changes Happening?
Naturally Internode regret the circumstances that have lead to price rises for many of our customers. A detailed description of the reasons behind these changes is available in the Internode blog.
Which ADSL Plans Are Affected?
The following Internode ADSL plans are affected by these changes:
- Easy Reach 60 and Easy Reach 200 plans (from before 12th July 2011)
- SOHO Reach 60 and SOHO Reach 200 plans
- Easy Broadband Classic and Easy Broadband plans (not including 'T-Shirt' plans)
- Easy Naked S plan
Customers on these plans—subject to the following points—will receive a notification detailing the specific changes to their plans. The notification process commenced on the 28th of July 2011. In all cases, no changes to your plan will occur until at least 30 days after the notification is sent.
No other Internode ADSL plans are affected by these changes.
How Will I Be Notified?
Internode will send a notification to your billing address—that is, the address your invoices are sent to. This notification details the exact changes for your specific circumstances, and provides at least 30 days notice before the changes take effect.
There are several criteria that mean your specific service may be exempt from this change.
What If I Have Only Just Signed Up?
No changes will be applied to any ADSL service that has been with Internode for less than six months. This is particularly relevant for customers that have just joined Internode on a monthly contract. However, the automatic plan change will apply after the initial six month period.
What If I Am Within My Minimum Contract Term?
Automatic plan changes will only be applied to plans that are no longer within a minimum contract term. Any plans that are still within a minimum contract term will not be affected until the that contract term has expired.
- To put it another way, we are honouring your current plan for the duration of your minimum contract term.
Plans that are associated with an in-contract Internode Fetch TV service are also not affected. Other exemptions apply to clients of more than five years; certain exchange areas; services with a Business Pack services; and various other criteria.
Remember that no changes take place until at least 30 days after you have been sent a notification; and for various reasons not all customers on affected plans will receive a notification.
If you have not received a notification then there is no need to do anything—nothing has changed for you.
What If My ADSL Is Delivered Via An Internode DSLAM?
All Easy-Naked-S services—whether delivered by an Internode DSLAM port or an Optus Wholesale DSLAM port—will incur a $10 per month price rise, after the minimum contract term (or first three months) has expired.
However, on the specific Easy Reach, SOHO Reach and Easy Broadband plans listed above, the automatic plan changes will only affect services that are delivered by a Telstra Wholesale DSLAM port.
- If you have one of these plans and it is delivered via an Internode DSLAM port, then it will not be migrated.
- You may wish to consider changing to a current Easy Broadband plan if you like, but that is entirely up to you.
- Log in to our online plan changer to select the currently available plans on your service.
When Will The Change Take Effect?
If your minimum contract term has ended (or you are on a monthly plan and your Internode ADSL is more than six months old); and you are on one of the affected plans, you will receive a notification including details on when the automatic plan change will occur on your service.
As a general rule, there is a period of at least 30 days after the notification letter during which we do not make any changes. This is an ideal time for you to select another plan, if you prefer.
- If you do select another plan via the online plan changer, then this will take effect, as usual, on your next monthly rollover date.
- If you don't select a new plan, then on the first monthly rollover date after the 30 day notification period, you will be automatically changed to the plan that we have specified in your notification.
For example, if your rollover date is the 8th of each month and you receive your notification on the 19th of August, then if you do not take any action your automatic plan change will occur on the first rollover date after September 18 (30 days later), which is October 8. Your specific dates will be included on your notification.
How Do I Choose A Different Plan?
To choose a different plan, log in to our online plan changer. You can do this now; or within 30 days of receiving your notification. The plan changer will offer you the currently available plans for your service—and if you select one of these these, then it will take effect on your next monthly rollover.
Do I Start A New Contract Term When My Plan Is Changed?
No. Regardless of whether you are automatically plan changed or you choose your own plan change, your service will not be placed under a minimum contract term with Internode.
I Have A Power Pack—How Is This Affected?
If you have a Power Pack with your current plan, it will be moved across to your new plan. There will be no changes to your static IP address allocation or other Power Pack features.
I Have A Percentage Discount—How Is This Affected?
If you have an ongoing percentage discount on your service, this percentage will not affected by the automatic plan change.
I Am Relocating—How Does This Affect Me?
As a general rule, only current Internode ADSL plans can be selected for the broadband service at your new premises.
However if requested, a 'grandfathered' plan on a service that is within a contract term may be relocated once, using either of the relocation options. Grandfathered plans are plans that are no longer being currently sold by Internode.
You may relocate a grandfathered plan once only, and only if the service is within a contract term—otherwise you will need to select a current plan. Of course a plan can only be relocated if the same service type (for example Easy Naked) is available at the new premises.
Why Isn't Everyone Eligible For The Bundling Discount Any More?
We are no longer able to offer our broadband bundling discount in some areas of Australia, specifically Zones 2 & 3. These zones are defined by the wholesale network access provider that we use for Easy Reach ADSL, and some older Easy Broadband plans:
- Zone 1 broadly describes areas where there is competitive infrastructure present in the local exchange (note however this is not entirely consistent). Bundling discounts are still available in these regions. In fact, many customers who are in Zone 1 may find that bundling with NodeLine on these new plans will reduce their monthly broadband costs!
- Zones 2 and 3 are areas where there is no competitive infrastructure present and a higher wholesale cost is applied to Internode. Unfortunately we can no longer apply broadband bundling discounts to these specific plans in these areas.
We regret the decision to raise prices on any of our services, but in this case it is necessary to allow us continue to provide the stable, high-quality services we're known for.
What Are My Other Options?
If your service is scheduled to automatically change to a new plan, then by definition it is not currently under a minimum contract term with Internode. Hence, if necessary you may cancel this service or transfer it to another provider without incurring an early cancellation charge form Internode. We regret presenting this option; however we respect your choice and hope to see you back in future.
- But first, check out the other plan options that we have available on your service. It's possible the new plans provide a better match to your current Internet usage requirements.
- Also enter your phone number into our online coverage checker, to see if there are any alternative Internode ADSL service types available in your area.
- As third alternative, many customers with low to medium monthly Internet usage may wish to consider using our NodeMobile Data 3G service instead of ADSL.

Detailing the Changes: Easy Naked
Only the Easy Naked S plan is affected. No changes apply to any other Easy Naked plan.
If your Easy Naked S service is more than three months old and your minimum contract term has passed, then a $10 per month increase in price applies to your current plan. Specifically, the plan changes from $59.95 including 150 GB to $69.95 including 150 GB.
This is being notified and automatically processed as described above. Alternatively, you may wish to select one of the new Easy Naked plans:
- If you are a light user, we recommend a change to the Easy Naked 30 plan, which is $59.95 per month for 30 GB of monthly quota. This is bundled with a NodePhone VoIP phone service including $10 call credit a month.
- If you are a heavy user, we recommend a change to the Easy Naked 200 plan, which is $79.95 per month for 200GB of monthly quota. This is also bundled with a NodePhone VoIP phone service including $10 monthly call credit.
